SWA America Recycles Day Coloring Contest

Are you drawn to recycling? Are you waiting for your brush with fame?

The Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County is partnering with WFLX-TV FOX29 and Whole Foods to create a coloring contest for inspired creative recyclers!

Winners receive prizes and will be recognized at the celebration of America Recycles Day on Nov. 19 at the Solid Waste Authority’s Education Center.

Official Contest Rules


Eligibility

Palm Beach County residents are encouraged to participate. The entries will be judged per the following age groups:
  • 4 years and under
  • 5-8 years
  • 9-12 years
  • 13-17 years
  • 18 + years (Adult) 
Contest Period

The contest starts Aug. 1, 2016, and runs through close of business Nov. 4, 2016. All entries must be postmarked on or before Nov. 4, 2016, to be eligible.

Entering the Contest

To enter, Palm Beach County residents may pick up the official America Recycles Day coloring page at participating Whole Foods stores or download and print it from www.swa.org/coloring. Only one (1) entry per person per contest will be accepted. Multiple entries will be disqualified. Void where prohibited.

Artists may use whatever physical media they wish, including charcoal, colored pencils, crayons, markers, oil, paint, pastels, watercolor, etc. PLEASE NOTE: pastels or charcoal must be sprayed to prevent smearing.

Artwork must be the original, exclusive work of the resident entering the contest in idea, design and execution. Collage materials are not permitted. Photographs and/or computer-generated artwork will not be accepted. Artwork may not feature copyrighted or trademarked characters. Every submitter will exercise due diligence to ensure that nothing contained in the entry infringes any other person’s copyrights or rights to literary property.

For entrants aged 0 to 17 years, please be sure to include the following information on the back of the coloring page:
  • Artist name
  • Age
  • Grade
  • School 
  • Parent or Legal Guardian printed name and signature
  • Parent or Legal Guardian contact information: phone number, email address and home mailing address (no PO Boxes) 
For entrants aged 18 years and older, please be sure to include the following information on the back of the coloring page:
  • Artist name printed 
  • Artist signature 
  • Contact information, including phone number, email address and home mailing address (no PO Boxes) 
Winning artists may be asked for proof of residency to ensure they live within the boundaries of Palm Beach County, Florida.

Entries must be filled out completely and legibly in order to qualify, and will be void if they are, in whole or in part, incomplete, illegible, damaged, irregular, counterfeit, altered or obtained through theft or fraud.

Entries must be returned to the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County and be postmarked on or before Nov. 4, 2016, to be eligible to win a prize. The Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County, WFLX-TV FOX29 and Whole Foods cannot be responsible for any late, lost or damaged entries.

A potential winner may be requested to provide proof that he or she is the authorized account holder of the email address associated with a winning entry.

Entrants agree not to upload, post or transmit any materials which contain any computer viruses, Easter eggs, worms, Trojan Horses or other harmful component or programming routines that are intended to damage, detrimentally interfere with, surreptitiously intercept or expropriate any system, data or personal information. Any attempt to deliberately damage any web site or undermine the operation of the promotion is a violation of criminal and civil laws, and Sponsors reserve the right to seek damages from any person who makes such attempt(s).

Employees and immediate family members of employees of Sponsors, Participating Entities, and their respective parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, agents and their advertising and production agencies are not eligible to participate in this promotion.

Selection of Winners

All entries will be judged by a group of qualified experts per the specific age group at the contest’s end. Entries will be judged on the basis of:
  • Creativity 
  • Originality 
  • Artistic skill
  • Interpretation and the clarity of the theme 
Decisions are at the discretion of the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County and are subject to change at any time. The SWA and its partners reserve the right to award multiple winners and prizes, or no winners and prizes.

By entering this contest, artists and their parents/guardians agree to be bound by the decisions of the Contest Sponsors and their representatives, which are final, binding and conclusive (without appeal).

Winners will be announced Monday, Nov. 14, 2016, via media release and will be displayed at the SWA’s America Recycles Day Event at the SWA Education Center (6751 N. Jog Road in West Palm Beach) on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Winning artwork will also be featured online at www.swa.org.

If a winner does not meet eligibility requirements and is therefore ineligible, the SWA and its sponsors reserve the right to select another winner at random.

Prizes

First Place winners will receive a prize package from the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County, WFLX-TV FOX29 and Whole Foods. Runners-up will receive prizes from the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County, WFLX-TV FOX29 and Whole Foods.

Winning artwork will be featured at the SWA’s America Recycles Day event, posted on the contest’s website, and hung in the SWA’s Education Center. Artist names, age and school name will be associated with each winning entry.

Odds of winning any prize depend on the number of entries received. All prizes will be awarded to the minors' parents or legal guardians on their behalf. No prize may be exchanged for cash, transferred or assigned by the winner.

In the event of a dispute, all decisions made by the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County and its sponsors are final and binding. Sponsors reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to disqualify any person who tampers with the entry process or the operation of Sponsors’ websites, or who otherwise acts in violation of these official rules. The SWA and its sponsors further reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to cancel, terminate or modify this contest if, for any reason, the contest is not capable of being completed as planned (including, but not limited to, for the following reasons: infection by computer virus, technical corruption, force majeure, or non-authorized human intervention that compromises or affects the administration, fairness, integrity, security, or proper conduct of the promotion).

Winners will be solely responsible for any and all local, state and federal taxes, as well as license and registration fees, transportation costs, gratuities and other items of an incidental nature.

Ownership of Entries

All entries submitted to the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County in connection with this contest, along with all copyright, trademark and other proprietary rights associated therewith, become the property of the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County upon submission. Entry materials will not be returned to any entrant. By submitting an entry, you acknowledge that if you win the coloring contest, the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County will own all rights to use, modify, reproduce, publish, perform, display, distribute and promote the artwork in perpetuity without compensation to you or any other person.

The Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County’s consent for the artist to reproduce or display their artwork shall not be unreasonably withheld.

Use of Name, Likeness, Etc.

As a condition of receiving any prize, each winner as well as their parents or legal guardians will be required to consent to the use of their name, age and school name. Winners must also consent to using their likeness (as in a photograph or on television) and prize information, without limitations, for promotional purposes and media interviews without further payment.

Release

By entering the contest, entrants and their parents or legal guardians release and agree to hold harmless the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County, WFLX-TV FOX29, Whole Foods, and each of their partners or employees, from any liability whatsoever in connection with entering the contest, accepting any prize, or anything that may arise related to the contest.

Contest Information

The 2016 contest winners will be notified during the week of Nov. 14, 2016, by email or phone.

Entrants agree to be bound by these official rules and the decisions of the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County and its partners.

These official rules are subject to modification by the SWA and its sponsors.
