Residential Solid Waste Disposal Rates

Residential customers pay for solid waste disposal through an annual assessment charged to all residential property owners in the County.  The current annual residential assessment rates are $122 for single family homes, $65 for multifamily homes, and $115 for mobile homes.  These charges are billed to the owners of all residential property in Palm Beach County on the annual property tax bill.

What does the Residential Assessment Cover?

This fee covers the cost of disposing of household waste and recyclables collected at the curb or in a multi-family container.  If you live in unincorporated Palm Beach County and you have questions about what you can place at the curb, please see our collection service guidelines or contact SWA Customer Information Services by clicking Contact Customer Service in the menu to the left or by calling one of the telephone numbers listed below.  If you live in a city please contact your municipal service provider.

What is not covered?

The fee does not cover the cost of disposing of material that cannot be collected at the curb or in a multifamily container.  The fee also does not cover the cost of disposal of waste delivered by residents or businesses to a Solid Waste Authority disposal facility or transfer station.  Tipping fees will be charged for all waste delivered to a SWA facility according to the SWA's tipping fee schedule.

What about Household Hazardous Waste?

Household hazardous waste (HHW) cannot be placed at the curb; but residents can bring HHW to the SWA Household Hazardous Waste Facility or to a SWA transfer station.  The service is free to residents.  There is a HHW drop-off location near you.
