Help Stop Illegal
Dumping
Did you know that illegal dumping is
punishable by up to a $10,000 fine and five (5) years in prison?
Besides being an eyesore, it can also become a health problem by
promoting disease carrying rodents that are harmful to people
and pets.
You can do your
part to stop illegal dumping by immediately reporting any
activity you see. If you live in a municipality, contact
your local law enforcement agency. If not, contact the
Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office at 561-688-3000. Once a report has
been filed, contact the SWA at 1-866-SWA-INFO and provide the
case number.
One of the many illegal
dumping problems is the improper disposal of construction and demolition debris (C&D).
To assist customers in the proper disposal of construction and
demolition debris (C&D), the SWA has a list of
permitted roll-off haulers. These haulers are required
to dispose of C&D in a permitted landfill or recycling facility.
Roll-off haulers doing business
in unincorporated Palm Beach County that are not on the list are in violation
of SWA Rule IV and Chapter 2001-331, HB 945. To ensure
construction materials are disposed of legally and in an
environmentally-sound manner, please help us by contracting with
permitted haulers only. If you live in a municipality,
please
contact your municipality for a list of roll-off haulers.
