The Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County is looking for students to go on a one-week Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Rethink adventure into the world of trash. During this week, participants will engage in hands-on activities and labs to learn all about their environment through an integrated solid waste management perspective. Participants will also go behind-the-scenes at all of the SWA facilities, including a Home Chemical and Recycling Center, the Landfill, a Recovered Materials Processing Facility, Renewable Energy Facility 2, a Transfer Station, Utilities and the SWA Greenway Trail System. We'll also visit our community partners, which include Resource Depot, Loxahatchee River District and Grassy Waters Preserve.
After all participants learn about AWAY, they'll graduate as official SWA 4R Ambassadors and be encouraged to teach their family and friends how their waste can affect our environment.
The cost to participate in the program is an old electronic device, which will be recycled.
