The integrated system of facilities includes a Home Chemical and Recycling Center for hazardous waste at each of our transfer stations. Usually when someone mentions hazardous waste, people do not think they have these items at home. However, we all have many chemicals in our homes. Home chemicals that need proper disposal include fluorescent light bulbs, rechargeable batteries and propane tanks. All of these items can be dropped off by Palm Beach County residents for free. Small businesses will have to pay for dropping off their hazardous waste. Each year we either recycle or safely dispose of about four and a quarter million pounds of home chemicals.
