The Information Technology (IT) department is comprised of professional employees trained to design, build and operate secure data and voice systems to assist the management and staff of the Solid Waste Authority (Authority) to carry out their responsibilities efficiently and effectively.
IT supports the Authority’s integrated solid waste management systems and programs by delivering stable, modern technology solutions to enhance customer experience and information sharing; and ensures high availability and secure access to the agency’s systems and data. IT achieves this through the following major services:
IT Governance
The Authority’s IT governance framework provides a mechanism for aligning technology strategy with business strategy. This includes thorough IT review and guidance to ensure operational parameters, consistent with system security practices and architecture, are built into new systems.
Technology Infrastructure Management
IT manages the networking infrastructure (network/voice/data services, systems and architecture) for the Authority’s integrated solid waste management systems throughout Palm Beach County. This includes the management, security and business continuity for all Authority data.
System Support
Perhaps the most visible role of the department, IT provides technical support for all users that access the Authority’s network, network services, and computer systems following globally recognized best practices frameworks for IT service management. IT also supports and maintains adaptive on-premise/Cloud infrastructure and business application development for networking infrastructure and information systems.
