Recycle Right Mania High School Recycling Challenge

The Recycle Right Mania High School Recycling Challenge is a friendly interschool competition to see which high school body and their fans have the best waste disposal behaviors when at a school sporting event.

The overall goal is to encourage proper waste disposal no matter if you're at home, school, work or play. The benefit from this challenge will be a decrease in waste disposal from high school football games by increasing recycling and waste diversion. A financial award will be offered to the schools that have the best results.

To take part in the Recycle Right Mania High School Recycling Challenge, participating high schools will be encouraged to promote recycling behaviors at their home football games. The blue bin recyclable material (plastic, aluminum and glass bottles, cans and jars) will be collected in specially marked blue recycle carts, and the volume will be totaled and reported at the end of the game.

Most Recyclables Collected during the course of the regular season at their home games 

  • 1st Place - $1,500
  • 2nd Place - $1,000
  • 3Rd Place - $500

Most Recyclables Collected in a single week 

  • Highest Single Week - TBD 

Highest Waste Diversion Rate during the course of the regular season at their home games

  • 1st Place - $1,500
  • 2nd Place - $1,000
  • 3rd Place - $500

Highest Waste Diversion in a single week

  • Highest Single Week  - TBD

Bonus Point Materials, such as plastic bags and cardboard/boxboard, will be used to determine the winner(s) in case of a tie. So, get recycling at your high school football game and make your school the winner.

This challenge is a partnership between the School District of Palm Beach County and the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County to increase the diversion of recyclable waste, which will lessen our reliance on the landfill as a means of waste disposal.
