How often do you find yourself with an item in hand and pause to ponder: Is this recyclable?
Now there is an easy way to find out what is recyclable in Palm Beach County’s dual stream recycling system!
The Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County has partnered with Recycle Coach™ to provide a web app to help all Palm Beach County residents find quick answers to their specific questions. Just visit SWA.org and type your troubling trash item into the Is This Recyclable? page to search the disposal database.
Query any kind of waste and find detailed disposal information.
For example, search for paper plates and you’ll find that,
“Soiled and wax-coated paper such as microwave popcorn bags, meat/cheese paper, cookie bags and paper plates do not go in the blue or yellow recycling bin. Please place them in the garbage.”
Punch in paint and learn,
“All paints, stains and thinners may be brought to any of the SWA’s Home Chemical and Recycling Centers for proper disposal.”
There is even a link that shows the drop-off locations nearest to you. Ask about tree branches and the answer is,
“Tree branches and palm fronds must be 6 feet or less in length and cannot weigh more than 50 pounds,” to be picked up at the curb.
In addition to this dazzling disposal database, Palm Beach County residents can visit the My Pick-Up Days page to find what days recycling and garbage are collected, print out a schedule and to set reminders.
