[ARCHIVED] A week to thank waste workers and facility operators

2020 Thanks Essential Waste Workers

In honor of National Waste and Recycling Workers Week (June 15-19, 2020), the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County is taking a moment to recognize the vital role that essential waste workers play in keeping our communities safe.

Garbage haulers and solid waste facility operators continue their job of protecting public health and our environment during this health crisis response. Our day-to-day lives may have changed a lot, but thanks to essential waste workers, this way of life is still the same.

Please join us in thanking all of those who collect and process the more than 2 million tons of waste Palm Beach County residents create each year. The SWA will be sharing photos and videos on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Twitter with the hashtag #ThankYouRecyclingHeroes.

Watch the :30 commercial to see how some of your neighbors thanked their curbside waste collectors. And watch the longer video highlighting more expressions of gratitude.

Many thanks to all the men and women who continue to provide invaluable essential services. Without you, we’d be a mess!
