[ARCHIVED] No garbage collection Saturday in unincorporated Palm Beach County

The Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County continues to secure its facilities in preparation for Hurricane Irma’s impact.

All Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County facilities and operations will be CLOSED Saturday (9/9/17). No garbage, recyclables or yard waste collection will occur. No onsite drop-offs will be accepted. The SWA is considering closing all facilities on Monday (9/11/17), but will make that determination in the coming days. After the storm passes, SWA facilities will be evaluated for damage so they can open and begin receiving garbage as soon as possible.

In order for municipalities to use any debris management site that opens, their haulers will need load tickets, which are supplied by the SWA. These load tickets can be picked up at the SWA Administration building (7501 N. Jog Road, WPB) Thursday, Sept. 7 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Due to Hurricane Irma, the SWA’s Customer Service call center is experiencing a very high volume of calls. Haulers are operating all spare equipment and will be providing collection service on today’s scheduled route only. Haulers do not have the resources to send equipment off route for missed pickups. If your recyclables and/or yard waste is not picked up on your regular collection day, you need to take them back into your house or secure them in some way until after the storm passes.
